Why Speed Counts
In our damp air, mold can start on wet goods in 24 to 48 hours. Each hour that water sits, it creeps deeper into walls, floors, and frames. Fast pump-out and drying is not a sales pitch. It is the gap between drying a room and gutting one.
What the Work Takes
- Pump-out: pumps and wet vacs pull standing water.
- Wet hunt: meters find hid damp in walls and under floors.
- Dry: pro fans and dryers dry the bones over days, with daily meter checks.
- Tear-out: soaked drywall, fill, rug pads, and dead goods are cut out and trashed.
- Clean: key when water came from outside. Storm and flood water counts as foul.
Know Your Water Type
Pros rank water by dirt level: clean (pipe), gray (rain in, machines), and black (flood, sewage, surge). Flood and surge water is always foul. Soaked soft goods it touched must go, not dry. This rank sets the scope of work and what policies pay.
Insurance Notes
Fast rain harm from storm breaks (rain through a wind-hurt roof) is often a home claim. Rising flood water is not in home policies in most cases. It needs its own flood policy. Know which claim you file before the adjuster comes. See the Louisiana claim guide.
